UAVaid is delighted to announce that our co-founder, Daniel Ronen, has been honoured by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with their Verena Winifred Holmes Award, 2020.

The Verena Winifred Holmes Award is intended to recognise those individuals who have achieved by undertaking a unique challenge or experience, perhaps to benefit people from groups with different needs, or with a past record of disadvantage or low participation. This is only the 3rd time the award has been made in the last 5 years.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic forced the awards ceremony online, Terry Spall, IMechE President, announced the citation for Daniel’s award as;

“For his strong commitment to diversity, inclusiveness of engagement, and the development of technology specifically designed to benefit disadvantaged communities and people in the under-developed world.”

The IMechE Awards Ceremony 2020 was held ‘virtually’ due to COVID-19.

Responding to the award, Daniel said “I am honoured to receive this award from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and hope that it will inspire others to work together to help build an inclusive and positive legacy for future generations.”
